Apne brings together four people, the three Deols & Director Anil Sharma. All desperately seeking the same thing...a Hit! But it seems, that will remain elusive even with this endeavor of theirs!

Story and Performances:
Baladev Singh Choudhary's (Dharmendra) only dream is to become World Heavy weight boxing champion from India. He already won the silver medal (what a scrappy script to start with) in Olympics and is vying for the ultimate position.

But the international US betting Mafia conspires against him and level doping charges which eventually led to the ouster and total ban on Baladev Singh from International boxing. ( This story would have been written by any one - obviously Dharmendra want to show case the talent of his both sons, specially his second son Bobby deol, who after so many takes as hero, is still not able to make it as an established actor).

Baladev keep nurturing his unfulfilled wish, and wants his name to be clear of doping test, and in order to do that, he wants to train is elder son Angad and make him world heavy weight champion thereby erasing  the bad name on him and creating history through his son. But Angad has his own dreams and aspirations, he doesn't like to be a boxer and all he wants is to follow his dreams (The strained relation between father and elder son have been shown and the story tries to create a balance between the two, with father's dream and son's aspiration. Sort of sentimental scenes, Pooh! We had enough of such scenes in many movies of the past; do we require them here as well?).

Karan [Bobby Deol], the younger son, a musician, in spite of wanting to fulfill his father's dreams, is helpless. But the story takes a turn when Karan decides to live his father's dream. The situation spirals out of hand subsequently... (Everyone was expecting this, some one should take on fathers dream and who else to do then the failing Bobby Deol, he is literally failing in Bollywood, so by showcasing him as the boxer champion Papa Dharmendra wants to set things right but who likes Boxer bobby deol?).

Dharmaendra is excellent and Sunny if good. But Bobby is looking worse with flabby tummy and weak chest being portraying the role of boxer. He would have worked on shaping his body. All the ladies have nothing to do in the film. On a whole the movie is a dud.
