Aloo Chaat Bollywood Movie Review
Story:
A repeated tale, the story begins with Nikhil (Aftab) coming from the US to his family in Delhi on a visit and he is shown a flurry of Punjabi girls to marry. However, Nikhil is in love with a Muslim girl Aamna (Aamna) but does not have the guts to break the news since everyone is scared of the strict Papaji (Kulbushan), his orthodox wife and mother. Added to that is the Mamaji (Sanjay) who is out to create trouble. Nikhil decides to take a detour and approaches Papaji's close friend Hakim (Manoj) who is also a sexologist. Together, they decide to get in Aamna and try to sketch a plan so that she can win the hearts of the family while Nikhil pretends to create ruckus by marrying a 'Gori' girl (Linda). Whether the plot is successful or not forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a good thought but it has fizzled out by the time it has been brought on to the screen. It is the narrative that spoiled the spirit and the presentation part was fine. Good scores for the dialogues for the witty words, the script was not strong, the screenplay was not executed in the right manner. The saving grace was some soulful music with some melodious tunes and then the camera department that did a good job. Editing was alright, art department was standard and the costumes suited the typical Punjabi environment. Aftab and Aamna did their best to pull the strings together with their performance but their characters did not have the kind of strength to perform. However, the supporting cast had enough on their cards and Kulbushan, Sanjay Mishra and Manoj Pahwa came up with some really interesting performances to provide some pace to the movie.

Conclusion:
The film followed a path that has been visited by many film makers before so few minutes down the line, the viewers knew what was in store. While the first half of the movie goes about with the hatching of the plot, the second half goes in execution of the same which becomes quite predictable by then. There seems to be a weak attempt to take lead from old comedy classics however it has failed to match that standard. Variety was missing in the movie but then there are few spots when some laughs are heard due to the witty wordings. It could have been better if the script was held tightly and novelty was introduced.

Bharatstudent Verdict: Not spicy!!!
