Aasma Bollywood Movie Review

Story:

A sulky story, the tale is about a theatre group which goes by the name of Aasma has a bunch of talented artists (Shubhashish, Seema Biswas, Hrishita, Raghuveer, Joy, Mushtaq etc) but then luck has been eluding them for quite a while. They are unable to get offers to play and this leads to more problems. The final nail on the head is hit when its main sponsor (Sachin Khedekar) backs out of the group and this makes them fall on to doldrums. From then on, the group tries to pool in their sources and try to restructure things but when all this is happening, it is discovered that the main character is affected with HIV disease. How do they cope up with this situation? Will 'Aasma' make it to recognition and success? All this forms the rest of the story.

Aasma Hindi Cinema Review

Presentation:

The director has come up with a flimsy storyline and added to that his narration has been quite amateur and raw. The presentation aspect is somewhat okay but then the script was written shoddily, the screenplay was not executed very well, dialogues were just okay, the saving grace for the film is few songs and the camerawork that did its best to capture anything that can get some mileage. Editing could have been a lot better, the others need no mention here. Shubh was the real performer who did his best to salvage, Nauheed and Hrishitaa are both beautiful and sexy but then they did not have much to offer due to their weakly written characters, Raghuveer Yadav failed to impress, Aditya is bad, Ravi not upto the mark, Seema should have thought about Hindi than English, Sachin was underutilized. It was Mushtaq Khan and Sunil Rege who managed to do a good show.

Conclusion:

The film is a hotch-potch of various other movies and at the end of the day, the makers were not clear what they wanted to convey. While the first half of the film was the regular tale of moments, the second half gets emotional and melodramatic at many instances. Overall, the pace of the film is quite mild. It must be said that the blame must be taken by the writing and the direction departments. The film will sink in no time.
