Aashayein Bollywood Movie Review
Story:
A good tale gone bad, the story begins with Rahul (john) who is at the peak of delight as he wins a big lottery and is celebrating it with a big bash. It is there he proposes to his lady love Nafisa (sonal) but soon collapses. The doctors declare that Rahul is suffering from lung cancer and he has few months to live. Shattered by this, Rahul leaves the place in the middle of the night without informing Nafisa and goes to a hospice where there are people like him. Though time is running out, their spirit has not run out and what happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting story and though he has proved his mettle in presentation, the narrative department lacked the luster. The dialogues were good, the script could have been better, screenplay was effective. Background score was haunting and two songs were amazing. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was alright. Costumes were trendy and the art department was natural. John Abraham reveals the actor inside him and the tough physique and handsome looks get overshadowed. Sonal Sehgal was sensuous, the real show stealer was Anaitha Nair, she was excellent. Shreyas was brief but good, Prateeksha was perfect, Vikram was versatile, Girish Karnad was good, Farida was fabulous, the others did their bit as required.

Conclusion:
The film is basically on a serious subject but with the addition of elements which are superficial, the film lost its flavor. The first half takes off on a good note but eventually things begin to peel down. The second half was not upto the mark and it really suffers due to the inclusion of few unrealistic locations and creations. On a content level, the film could have appealed but due to the unwanted scenes, the film fails to impress. The expectations were high on this so that is another challenge. At the box office, it could be difficult.
