Aamir Bollywood Movie Review

An edge of the seat treat, the story begins when Dr Aamir Ali (Rajeev Khandelwal) lands in Mumbai airport from London and is all smiles about meeting his family after a long time. However, before he realizes his luggage is flicked, his calls at home are unanswered and out of the blue a mobile phone is hurled into his hands. All Aamir gets to hear is that his family has been kidnapped by an extremist group and from then on he becomes a scapegoat and blindly follows the instructions given in the mobile. His journey takes him from the posh locales of London to the cramped and ugly streets of Mumbai where he has to come up with the third rate whores and slick pimps. He gets into the bylanes of places like Dharavi and Dhongri in his unfamiliar suit and tie. While he is on his toes trying to keep up with the instructions, it takes a long time before he realizes that he is being used as a pawn to a major bombing conspiracy that is going to send shock waves throughout the city. What happens after that? Can Aamir handle the crisis? All this forms the rest of the story.

Aamir Hindi Cinema Review

The director who is making his debut has come out with a very effective subject and had the knack to present it with the utmost finesse and narration. The script was well written and he was able to knit the story with a good screenplay. An excellent support from the technical team, thanks to some masterly camerawork followed by some spell binding background scores, the film sure has a great quotient of shock points and tensions. The editing could have been slightly better and the locations were hard hitting. Rajeev Khandelwal has come up with an excellent debut and his depiction of fear and pressure was commendable. Gajrao has come up with a very vicious performance as the villain and has given the right kind of negative punch to the film. The other characters were quite minimal but they did their bit to contribute to the value of the film.

The makers have come out with a very gripping tale of suspense and fundamentalism and though the second half of the film got a bit clich├ęd, the film overall manages to engage the audience throughout its duration. The idea of keeping the protagonist on the run without no major characters in the film is a novel concept and added to that is the real side of Mumbai which perhaps folks would not have the heart to see. The highlight of the movie is the real time shots that were taken without the knowledge of those present in the frame. The film might be more for the thinking set of audience and not for the entertainment hungry ones. Critically and technically a well made film which should make its way to the box office with decent profits.

Bharatstudent verdict: For those who like quality cinema, more of mind than heart!!!
