1920 Bollywood Movie Review

Story:
A well knit horror tale, the story begins with the backdrop of a castle like home way back in the year 1920 and there is a secret that holds the key to the house. The legend has it that there is a curse that rules the old house and it is waiting for the time to take its true shape. Despite several efforts by several people to bring down the home, the only result is the death of them under very mysterious circumstances. The trend keeps happening until the arrival of the young couple Arjun Singh (Rajneesh) and Lisa Singh (Adah Sharma). Arjun decides to bring down the house and has plans to build up a five star hotel. However, things take a different shape as a spirit comes alive and takes over Lisa. It is the curse that has been waiting to come true. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:

The director has come out with some interesting subject and both the presentation and narration have been good. The dialogues are alright but the script has been written well, also the screenplay was executed brilliantly. Full marks to the music and the camera departments who have come out with some fine deliverables. The costumes fitted well to the historic era and the current day while the editing could have been better at few instances, the pace of the film was slow and other departments did thier bit with required output. Rajneesh has done a good job in his debut but then there have been few places where he faltered, the film really belonged to Adah who came up with more substantial role and suited well with the performance. Raj Zutshi was a revelation while Anjori did her bit with elan, Vallabh and the others were okay with thier performances.

Conclusion:

The film has come out with some real good shock moments and though the first half starts off with some mysterious scenes, it is the second half that picks up the real momentum. However, the film has got many spots where the speed is really lost and this causes a bit of restlessness among the audience and also spoils the mood of the tension. Commercially, the film might not have many mass pulling elements but then it will surely be sought after in the single screen and the multiplex audience.

Bharatstudent Verdict : Recommended, worth watching once.
