Aladin Bollywood Movie Review

Story:
A good fantasy gone bad, the story begins on the backdrop of the imaginary city called Khwaish and here lives Aladin Chatterjee (riteish), the soft and kind hearted young man. He is an orphan but then he has to face a lot of trouble from the bully Kasim (sahil) and his gang. Aladin's life takes a turn when he chances upon Jasmine who takes a liking for him. She also gives him a magic lamp and as soon as Aladin rubs it, the Genie a k a Genius (Amitabh) comes alive. He gives Aladin a contract of three wishes and is very eager to grant them since that would set him free. However, the arrival of Ringmaster (sanjay dutt), the former genie changes the story. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Aladin Bengali Cinema Review

Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting thought but then there is a huge gap in the presentation and narration. The dialogues were good in parts, the script was pathetic, the screenplay was sloppy. Background score and music were alright but too many songs spoiled the flavor. Cinematography is a real star and it was too good. Costumes were apt and the art department was excellent. Editing was shabby, fights could have been better. Riteish is a show stealer and he has come up with an excellent performance, Amitabh was energetic as usual and gave an impressive act, Sanjay Dutt was repetitive, Jacqueline didn't have much in performance department but she scored in the looks department, she was gorgeous, Mita was wasted, Ratna was okay, Arif Zakaria was average, Sahil Khan was alright, Victor Banerjee was underutilized. The others didn't have much scope to perform.

Conclusion:
The film has got an appealing title and a very impressive star cast but then the director has not been able to execute the plot well and made a mess of it. The take off is very good but in no time, things begin to fall apart and by interval you would realize that there is not much happening. There are few good points in the second half but then the unwanted songs and some unconvincing scenes spelled disaster for the film. The ending again has been quite shabby which caused more inconvenience to the audience. Overall, it is a failed effort.
