The Mercedes Benz has always been a symbol of class and royalty when it comes to the four wheeler market. And now they have arrived with the Mercedes Benz B-Class. It is also called the W-246 and an enhanced version of the A-Class but in a different format. The dimensions are rather different as the car is slightly higher than Hyundai i-20 and has a rather large hatch.
It is fitted with a 225 section 18 inch wheels and it comprises of the upswept headlights along with a twin slatted grille which gives an imposing front. The interiors are all black with silver lining and the cabin is quite spacious. There is also a multimedia screen which gives you the information about the car. The back bench is quite good as a six-footer also can sit with ease and comfort.
Under the hood of the B 180 variant is the 1.6 litre unit which can generate a 122 PS. However, the diesel version might be having a 1.8 common rail diesel which pushes out about 136 PS. There is a six speed manual gear box and it generates a lot of power. While the first look of the car is positive a lot depends on the variant which is arriving in India and the pricing it is put at.
As such, the Mercedes Benz B-Class will have a tough competition from BMW X1 and Audi Q3 who are already at a firm setting due to their established market. The vehicle is expected to hit the Indian market during September or October. Some feel that it is better to go for a C-Class than spend higher amount because the shape reminds many of Honda Jazz. Let us see how this one fares.
