MINI Cooper S

In what is seen as the pride and status symbol of Europe, the Mini Cooper is all set to step into India and the expectations are obviously high. Called the Cooper S, this new vehicle looks mean and is much faster than before. For starters, it has the black alloys, the S Badging on the side, a muscular bumper with good air intakes and twin pipes at the centre which makes it a mean machine.
 
The front lights are large with the hexagonal radiator grille and is fitted with round clear glass headlights. The front end is quite proportionally balanced and it gives a taut look from the side. The speedometer is center mounted and it is plate sized. There are elliptical door rings and there is also a stylish version of iDrive system introduced by the BMW into this vehicle.
 
Mini Cooper S comprises of a 1.6 litre 4-cylinder engine and it is transferred to the front wheels through a 6-speed auto box. Of course, the torque converter is a bit slow but then the company claims that the car can reach 0-100 km per hour within 11.1 seconds and it can also touch a top speed of 191 kmph. While the engine remains the same, there is something special about this car.
 
It is fitted with a twin scroll turbocharger producing high force induction. So, the Mini Cooper S produces a 184 PS @ 5500 rpm which generates a maximum torque of 240 Nm. This is between 1600-5000 rpm. The S also has a steering mounted gearshift paddle. Even the retardation is good with ABS and Brake assist. The engine is 1598 cc and it can give a fuel economy of around 15 km per liter.
