Renault Duster

The time has come for the noted Renault India to arrive with their urban SUV. We are talking about Renault Duster and the expectations are quite high on this one. The very image of the vehicle is catchy as it has three horizontal chrome slats, large headlights, protruding wheel arches both in front and back, fine shut lines and sculpted boot with metal mimics. The top end is the RXZ variant.
 
The interiors are with plastic but the finish is quite decent. The interior space is quite good with a 470 litre boot and the rear bench has a 60:40 split. The rest of the features include stereo system, center console, power windows, power steering, audio control stalk, powerful HVAC unit and a rear AC unit. The top end variant has got a 1.5 litre DCI diesel engine with a healthy 110 PS.
 
With a 6 speed gearbox, the Duster can cross three digit speeds within seconds. The petrol version has a 1.5 dCl which churns out 85PS. Ideally, the Duster is a monocoque construction which is good for ride quality and handling. Coming to the seating, the Duster accommodates only five comfortably unlike the other SUVs. Moreover, it doesn’t have a 4 x 4 model in it.
 
There is also a talk that the rear seating is not that comfortable and the engine is also a liter smaller compared to its competitors. It is housing a 1500 cc engine and is generating 85 PS of power. The boot space seems to be high than the leg space. The price is going to be quite crucial as there are Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo with Scorpio giving good competition.
