Volvo XC60 D3

Amidst the tight competition from BMW, Audi, Mercedes, the Swedish name of Volvo is finding it hard to make its presence felt but they are coming up with some good cars. One among them is the latest SUV Volvo XC60 D3. This belongs to the lower range of SUVs and is available in both petrol and diesel variants. With focus on fuel conservation, this has got a D3 turbodiesel engine.
 
It has got a five-cylinder layout and its overall capacity is 2 liters. This is fitted with a different type of piezoelectric fuel injector which increases the fuel efficiency. The D3 also has a single turbine induction and this helps deliver a torque of 400 Nm at peak and gives 1400 rpm at the rev counter which can go up to 2850 rpm. The camshafts are light and it has a 1984cc oil burner.
 
The D3 can generate 165 PS of power at 3500 rpm. There is the brake energy generation and the maintenance-free particle filter complying with Euro 5 emission standards. The engine displacement is about 2000 cc and it has 5 cylinders. This is fitted with a 6 speed gear box and the power can touch up to 166 PS whereas the Kerb weight is 1796 kgs. This is a Four Wheel Drive.
 
The company claims that D3 can give a mileage of 14 kms per liter. The front brakes are disc brakes while the rear ones are ventilated disc brakes. The tyre size measures 235/65/R17 whereas the wheel size is 17 inches. The ground clearance stands at 230 mm and the wheelbase is 2774 mm. The boot can accommodate up to 495 liters while the fuel capacity is 70 liters. This is being priced around Rs 42 lakhs ex-showroom
