New Apple iPad - 2012
Apple the one company which has revolutionized the world with its ‘i’ products have recently unveiled its newer generation iPad. This company has always been pride in introducing its latest version gadgets including the iPhone, iPod and iPad. The new iPad which has recently released in the overseas market has become such an important product as it has introduced the LTE (Long Term Evolution) network to the market and it also introduced a 9.7 inch Retina display which delivers sharp images with its higher ppi specification and it is ridiculously stunning.
The new iPad is thicker and heavier and it runs quite hot at the right side while working heavily and when under load because there are double the number of backlight LEDs, a 70% larger battery and a faster GPU. This new iPad is not a huge speed improvement over the previous version rather it may be slower in few circumstances due to the GPU which needs to process four times the number of pixels. Also the battery takes longer time to charge and the battery life is a bit concern compared to the iPad 2. The camera’s enhancement over the new iPad is great and is also a fantastic improvement over the previous version.
The new iPad has a 2048x1536 pixel display which is one of the sharpest tablet displays and the best screen ever created on the tablets. The IPS display, the pixel density, color saturation and the length has been fantastic, accurate and significantly improved. In the new iPad the Qualcomm MDM9600 chip which is a first generation RF chip (also used in most modern LTE smart phones and tablets) has been introduced. The LTE is significant and the main reason of it is its super fastness. For many users with this new iPad they experience the low-latency, high output radio technology and also its performance is 4 – 5 times faster than the present HSPA+ networks.
The new iPad while using the LTE networks consumes lot of battery and there are also certain battery considerations to be made in the name of LTE. But, Apple has maintained nine hours of usage over the new cellular network which is a big break. The new iPad is provided with a turn on and off buttons to switch while out of a LTE service area. For the new iPad the 3G speeds are also far better than the iPad 2. The maximum download size of the applications has been increased from 20MB to 50MB as many Retina-ready applications uses or have larger assets which require extra space.
Apple has combined the 5MP backside illuminated sensor of the iPhone 4 with the low aperture five-lens system of the iPhone 4S to give a magnificent camera for the new iPad and the quality is much better than the previous model. But, the front camera looks identical to iPad 2 and the VGA pictures looks grainy. The main important thing that can be discussed is the back camera’s improvement over its predecessors and the new iPad is a multi-faceted photography machine. The new iPad doesn’t have flash but still the low light photo quality is high and it’s good too.
The battery life while using the Wi-fi gives approximately 10 hours battery which equals a normal day usage including the web browsing, gaming, video and music. It also shows that the battery life seems slightly lower than the iPad 2 and the main drawback of the new iPad in terms of battery is it takes hell lot of time to get juiced up (charging up). The new iPad uses a 42.5Whr battery cell with nearly 70% more capacity than its previous model and for the battery from 0-100% it takes nearly seven hours and again which is nearly double that of iPad 2. The new iPad Retina display has been made sharp and the color saturation is enough to be used at comparatively lower brightness than the iPad 2 brightness settings. The new iPad uses 1GHz dual core Cortex A9 CPU from the A5 chip and it uses Power VR’s SGX543MP4 to double the graphics capabilities and the performance.
The new iPad is 0.6 mm thick and moderately weighs around 0.2lbs. The quality of the aluminum on the back of the new iPad has been increased and the prone to scratches is very less and this iPad feels a bit more robust. The quality of the glass at the front end has been changed and it is extremely reflective and it has more chances to attract the fingerprints. There is a new dictation system which is present as a dedicated microphone button on the keyboard and to make it work the iPad should be connected to the internet.
