Teen exercises and their myths
Starting exercises during teenage is the most effective way to build a good body and maintain good health. But since it is the growing years there are many misconceptions which surround the teens regarding their fitness. At that age the metabolism is high and it also helps in good weight loss. The following are few myths which are existing in the minds and here is how they can be unraveled. The general belief is that exercise can make you taller but it purely depends on the height of your parents and your posture. The growing age for boys and girls get tapered as they approach 18 and during this time, the best way is to focus on stretching exercises and fitness workouts which can help you stand tall. Stand straight with an erect back and that will make you look taller. The other strong myth is that strength training tends to stunt the growth of the body but then it is not so. By doing exercises like Pull-Ups, Pushups, ab crunches and squats it is generally thought that it would have negative results on the body and if the workouts are done incorrectly. But if the strength training exercises are done under the supervision of a coach then there should not be any problem. However, stay away from power lifting and body building till you turn 16. Also, don’t think of developing a bulky physique at an early age. Focus more on strength training exercises. To get a bulky physique, you need to have the right kind of physical and skeletal maturity and this comes only with age. The attention should be more towards stamina, stability, suppleness and strength. |
