Anupam Kher is an acclaimed, versatile Indian actor who has acted in more than 350 films is also a stage drama actor. Other than acting he is well known as a director and producer too. He was also the chairman of the Censor Board and National School of Drama in India.
EARLY & PERSONAL LIFE:
He was born to Pushkar Nath Kher and Dulari a Kashmiri Pandit family on 7 March 1955 in Shimla. He is married to actress Kirron Kher and also has a stepson Sikander Kher (Kirron Kher’s son).
ACTING CAREER:
He made his acting debut with the movie Aagman in 1982. In the 1984 he acted in the movie Saaransh, where people started recognizing him as an actor. The chances poured into him and he has done many comic, comedian, villainy and negative roles. His noted television shows includes Say Na Something to Anupam Uncle, Sawaal Dus Crore Ka and Lead India.
Mr. Kher is internationally acclaimed and recognized for his roles in Bend it Like Beckham, Bride and Prejudice, The Mistress of Spices and Lust,Caution. He has also made a directional debut with the film Om Jai Jagadish. He was a producer for the film Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Maara and then established a new production company ‘Karol Bagh Productions’ with his friend Satish Kaushik and produced another film Tere Sang.
Mr. Kher was the alumni of NSD (National School of Drama) and also served as its director. He also served as the Chairman of the Indian Film Censor Board. He is now been appointed as a goodwill ambassador of the Pratham Education Foundation which is endeavored to improve the education for children in India.
His recently published book “THE BEST THING ABOUT YOU IS YOU” is getting many accolades and a very good response from all parts of the country.
